it’s crazy that people can understand Dickens at all. Do English classes teach how to read him? I’m very lost for the majority of my time reading. All of his prose and extraneous matter discombobulate any focus I have on the actual plot. I resort to sparknotes to assist.

I don’t usually write stuff while reading, but this book (still in Ch.2) is pandering just a bit too much. Making this character too heroic and sanctified. He’s not reached 30 yrs old and has no high school education but has reached near peak holiness for himself and understanding of love without too many self-inflicted wounds

beyond that critique, the author has captured quite well my own dispositions

in my attempts to submit and settle within myself, reading is a great companion. here i navigate once more with fiction.
