40 pages or so to go...this has its hooks thoroughly in me and I'm on that wobbly pinnace of please-stick-the-ending, please-stick-the-ending. Really enjoying it (it's also giving me a slight case of wish-I'd-written-this-itis)...just...am I going to risk the ending? Just pretend it was so marvelous I can't quite remember it? :)

Considering DNFing. Originally interested in the essays as they pertained to writing and finding them more philosophical/theological than otherwise.

love this! keep asking myself why this isn't the next big series on TV instead of some ridiculous retread.

A few things: 1) Titania would be a great POV character; 2) why is there a chapter threatening to slow down an already slow narrative ?!?; 3) the midnight kitchen raid sparked legitimate snickers; 4) the Charles Sorley poem 'To Germany' (containing the line'You only saw your future bigly planned,') made me think of the way lines lie dormant until struck awake.

Annoyed, seriously annoyed. So far, the cat is the most likable character. Derik is...hmmm...condescending? Not as clever as he thinks he is? Rooting for the cats, sorry/not sorry.

Just...not a fan of the Michael storyline. Never felt the chemistry between these characters...there hasn't been time in relatively tightly-plotted previous novels to expand on this (irrelevant?) subplot and, as result, it feels like a distracting eruption of previous subplots into the current storyline.
