I won't finish it. It's super stressful. Reading it, you feel like you were right there, next to Hu Anyan, delivering parcels and I already have a full time job. Of course it's eye-opening. I can't judge the writing because it's a translation and who knows what was lost in the process. Probably the audiobook is a better idea, listening while you do things and not chilling, because you can't chill with this book!

I adore Kapuściński and this is my 3rd book. Although usually he is pretty objective, in this book I sense a dosis of Orientalism when he contrasts Europe (Greece) and Asia (Persia) that gets annoying. For instance, he compares Asia's slavery vs Europe's freedom in the times of the Battle of Thermophylae, a time when Greek societies did have slavery as an essential institution!!! I'm disappointed
