“I’ll be with you for every tomorrow you allow, and I suspect a time after that, too”
“Are you sure?”
“The unfinished business I have is with you, Harriet York. You better get used to having me around.”
“Haunting me?”
“Loving you.”

“You’ve been waiting for Harriet. To exist in the same time as her. Your souls were together in the beginning, and so they shall be in the end.”

“I might’ve been the key to moving Nolan forward in this afterlife, but I think he was the push I needed in this life. He forced myself to see myself in a different light. He made me brave enough to stand up for myself. I’m seeing everything from an angle I haven’t before. Light in all my dark corners, discovering the forgotten things.”

“I didn’t realize I’d already been missing her for more than 100 years. Now I’m going to miss her for an afterlife more.”

“He stops kissing me like an apology and kisses me like a demand instead. Like the exclamation point at the end of the sentence.”

“This is what happens when I don’t get proper sleep. My brain starts wandering down alleyways it has no business traveling. I start thinking inappropriately about ghosts.”

“What’s going on with that?”
“My accent?”
She nods.
“I died Irish.”
“You’re not Irish anymore?”
“No, I’m still Irish.”
“Why aren’t you haunting a nice gal in Ireland then?”
“I don’t know. Probably because you Americans need more haunting than most.”
She gasps. “Rude.”

“Christmas has always been my favorite time of year. It’s the only time of year when it feels like magic might be real, hovering somewhere close to the surface. Like you can reach out and touch it. Cup between frostbitten fingertips like sugarplum, kisses and popcorn strung on ribbon. Crackling fires beneath the Earth and gingerbread cookies fresh in the oven. Christmas has always felt right, is always true.”

So good! The only thing I don’t agree with so far: “A vote for a third party candidate (Libertarian, Independent, Green, etc) is a vote for the opposite party.” As an Independent, I get to vote for anyone, including a Democrat or Republican. This frees me to choose based on a person’s ideology that matches mine, not a party. Let Independents vote in primaries, etc!
