It’s been a while since I’ve been so annoyed by how bad a book is.

This is a little more juvenile than what I expected.

Okay…so I think I must not be a fan of the friends to lovers trope…but maybe I only hate it if they already love each other and just have terrible communication skills. Because this is the 2nd book I’ve read like that this month and it’s honestly driving me crazy. And not in a good way.

This book is so bad.

This book has a strange combination that I don’t think I’ve experienced before. I love the main character; she’s resilient, funny, and pretty badass…but I’m struggling to care about the story itself. I think maybe it’s paced too slow for my current mood.

I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to read this book. I was a Classics minor at university and the beginning of Richard’s entrance into the department brings back so many memories of my days in Classical academia. The arguing over translations, the pontificating about the ancient scholars and the meaning behind their works.

I’m almost done but I finally think I know what’s up between Vicky and Sunny and Bunty! And that chapter or section where I was thinking “what’s the point in this”…I just figured out the point.

So far this book has some of the most inorganic dialogue I’ve ever read. And characters overreacting without explanation. It’s really hard for me to get into this. It feels real fake.

Ugh! 😩 Sal is giving me so much anxiety right now!

I’m really not liking this book yet. People rave about it but I’ve just been alternating between eye rolling and rage. I hate North and Nox.

I hate all of Oli’s bonds so far except for Atlas. It’s a weird thing because she’s very whiny and does nothing but complain and yet I STI hate them all for their treatment of her.
So far the world building has been slow so I’m not sure how much I’ll like it yet. Plus she has said her bonds hate her no less then eleventy-hundred times. 🙄🙄

I’m going into this book knowing it’s a second chance romance and that I typically shy away from those bc they give me anxiety. But I’ve been seeing SO many wonderful reviews for this book that I couldn’t not read it.

I usually love Ruth Ware books but I’m not clicking with this one. Maybe it’s because I don’t like any of the characters. Idk…it’s dragging for me.

I’m disgusted with Benji in this moment…I hope this reconciliation isn’t real!

I really hate Kevin’s mom in this moment!!

Oof! I did t know there was going to be on page SA in this book. That was really really hard to read.

I don’t like a single character in this book. This author really cannot write women.

John and Steve are gross. I feel like I’m reading an awkward, bargain-store version of American Psycho the way they discuss women.

This dialogue is so contrived. The time jumps are many…I hope this gets better.

I’m kind of bored by this book. Every character is one dimensional and I really don’t care about any of them. Hopefully it picks up.

Ridiculous

I hate to admit this but I’m kinda bored by this book.

I didn’t think Ellie could possibly annoy me more than she did at the beginning of the book but I’m 3/4 of the way through and I’d like to hurl my phone across the room. She is dumb. I’ve never been so disgusted by an MC that is meant to be at least a smidge relatable at most likable. She is selfish, self absorbed, and somehow still incredibly un-self-aware.

Wow…I’m not sure I’ve ever been more annoyed by a book character. The main character Elle (Ellie) is so self absorbed and has a one track mind…and that one thought is boys. She’s très insecure and fake af. Not sure I’ll make it through this one.

I am having a real hard time reading Reacher wax poetic about how much he wanted this woman when she was 15 and he was 24. 🤮
It’s not quite Humbert Humbert level…but close.
I’m so disappointed. I really really liked Jack Reacher (the character) and now I feel like this just ruined it for me.

Ugh. I really thought I was going to love this book but I don’t. I really really don’t. And it’s taking me forever to get through it.

The pacing and ridiculousness of this part of the book are giving me some very big The Importance of Being Earnest vibes.

Um…the main character is so freaking pathetic at this point that I may have to switch to a different book for a bit.
I’m having a really hard time reading this bc I just want to slap some sense into her.
