Some morally grey actions, political schemes running wild, and a larger world than book 1. Lee is cooking in book 2.

“I think it’s about convenience—like most mages’ endeavors. It’s much easier to tell yourself you’re a good person than it is to actually be one.”

Now we picking up steam.

Yea, I’m heavily invested!

If people claim this is one of the best sci-fi books of all time, it better get more interesting than it is, cause uhhh…yawn.

“Those buying such services imagined they improved themselves, when in truth it was their selves they destroyed. Their souls.”

Philosophical meanderings, I’m here for them all.

Round 2, let’s go.

Slow burn for sure, not a lot of action, but the writing is so well done. The prose really lends to understanding the MC.

“Dangerous things, names. A kind of curse, defining us that we might live up to them, or giving us something to run away from.”

I know this is going to be a slow burn BUT I am ready for this series!!

Not even going to pretend I understand half of what GK is proposing, but there’s several points I highly agree with. This is a tough one.

This line..

“Every sense is being catered to, every element designed to soothe. We’re cocooned in soft pleasures as we face our deaths.”

Preach Suzanne, preach!!

Starting this one in honor of my adopted daughter. Last one Rylie!

Kudos to Islington for taking the risk writing such an interesting take on multiple POVs. Book 1 had me in a choke hold, this one not as much, BUT 2 of the 3 POVs are hitting the mark!

Chapter 45 still a banger on the second read through!

Part 1 done. Loving it so far and thank God it’s not as dark as last book, LAWD.

Geez. I gotta take a breather. The title says it all.

What. Is. Happening?!

The pacing in this book has me glued to the pages!

Significant improvement in prose so far compared to book one. Smoother dialogue and far less choppy. The internal conflict has me locked in!
