Chapter six. Decision making and most of the chapter was about probabilities, odds, statistics and poker. Indeed decision making starts with data that can be used as an input for decision making

Chapter five is titled as managing others. One topic that sticks with me is decentralisation of decision making which is also the title of next chapter

For chapter is about goal setting, nothing new. Setting proximate goals is interesting and also a good reminder that many people are setting inconsequential and easy/risk free goals

Third chapter is about focus. Many interesting stories. Focusing few things, is one of the key. Thinking is important and you can not delegate it, and if you start thinking you are already half way there

Some people say only work in one project but in the book author observed superstars are working around five projects compared to their peers, instead of same projects they seek out new projects to learn and impact more, and they are creative, they ask questions, ideate , share past experience and create continually mental models. Nice examples

Second chapter is about teams. Many interesting topics and especially one sticks for me. Nowadays there are discussions around remote, hybrid or work from office. In this chapter the author was explaining the importance of eye contact and silent eye test. By seeing others eyes we are able to understand their emotions and challenges

Teams; believe the work is important, work is personally meaningful, clear goals and defined roles, knowing they can depend on each other, and psychological safety.

Project oxygen found that a good manager 1) is a good coach 2) empowers and does not micro manage 3) express interest and concern in subordinates success and well being 4) is result oriented 5) listens and shares information 6) helps with career development 7) has a clear vision and strategy 8) has key technical skills

Restarting, I started during winter and stopped around page fifty. Finished the first chapter about motivation. Nothing new but reminder as motivation, especially self motivation is important. Taking activities, actions and outcomes under our control and feeling ownership and empowerment is the key for motivation

I was planning to finish the book while flying back, but I need to finish while waiting a delayed flight. Anyways, the point is, Blood Song is a very interesting story, with interesting characters and to-be-explored world. I am interested to read the following novels.

End of chapter two. Main character is growing stronger and wiser, still many of the secrets are not revealed. He gets closer to the king, with his band they killed the one eyed man, found more evidence on the seventh, and more stories about his father and mother.

It is getting better, first part is over with the similar style as each part focusing a few months forward. Reading different authors back to back is helping me to see patterns in writing styles and genders. Just like in magic of recluce, I can see comment motives in this book. A group of extra talented young kids that discover their power. Extraordinary events whirling around them.

So far so good, and exceeding my expectations. What I like in this novel so far is the author is not overwhelming with too much information at once. Each chapter is showing a glimpse of our main characters growth and focusing on important events which make him himself. New chapters show mostly sometime in the future like the next year.
