Cannot tell how much of this is my attention being absolutely shot to shit OR it's Bradbury very poetic style that is just hard to follow. Everything is described in an epithet and I just find hard to paint a concrete picture.

The chapters are short and you keep forgetting what even happened

Had to let go of Nietzsche's "Zaratustra". I am not slogging through that to pretend I'm smarter than I really am.

So far the writing seems to be early 2010s millennial try-hard humor which is kinda putting me of, but at least it's understandable English

650 pages later I finally get to Sapolsky's baboon story

Finished a chapter about genes and was straight-up about to quit.

How much will I retain from this book? Probably very little, but still very interesting.

I don't like not finishing things, but, my God, this is just underwhelming

Rule 2 seemed to be an outlier as far as Judeo-Christian fables go.

Christ, Rule 2... the religious/Old Testament narratives that Peterson tries to push here is just murder. One step short of just beating you to death with a Bible.

For the life of me, I just can't get into this book.

The characters so far remind me of the social set-up in American Psycho. Snooty people that just dick around, I can't recall any relationship between them of much significance, everybody sort of is and isn't or belong/don't belong with everyone else. Whatever the characters do for a living doesn't play into anything.

Just noticed my edition has a glossary of names and genealogy trees. Fucking hell.

Feels like I'm really missing out on the possible subtle nods to various mythologies, 'cause so far it just seems ok, nothing to gush over about.

19th century England is shyte, and Engels goes all the nine yards to let you know about it.

Much more readable, but obviously dry, because it's basically a journalistic report with stats.

A troublesome read, due to its laconic style and pain in the ass syntax.

Also, way more rooted in history.

Really reminiscent of Bag of Bones, done with most of the book and yet nothing much is going on. Hope everything won't be tied together only in the last 10 pages.

More humanspeak, but the writing is still a bit .. off. Still not needing an open thesaurus in your lap is an improvement.

The vocabulary is a motherfucker here.

Not sure on the page, but this is good. Feel like I was duped into buying "Joker: Death of the family". At least you have something of a flowing narrative.
