Excellent and challenging

Really interesting. So much of it, however, is in dialogue with such a large body of interacting works of scholarship on Revelation that I know nothing that much of it kinda goes over my head.

There are some interesting points so far. I look forward most to the sections that deal with the theological difficulties that remain with the hypothesis. Currently it seems that Swamidass’ appeal is more for secular scientists and aim is more to dismantle a barrier concerning Adam and Eve for those on the outside of the faith.

I can appreciate what he’s attempting in bringing strands of Dogmatics and Biblical Theology together, really a worthy endeavor, but he gets too often bogged down by the frankly boring, unimaginative, and stagnant state of critical scholarship. There have been some helpful insights especially in the history of interpretation, but just as often I’ve thought, “I couldn’t disagree more” with some of it.
