Idk man, the writing is beautiful and the horror elements are interesting, but I cannot get over how the main character describes her sisters as mysterious. Ya I know everyone else sees them as mysterious but as a sibling I feel like it's missing that certain dumb silliness that is inherent to sibling dynamics. Sure, see your sisters as awesome and wonderful but also as stinky losers who slay the day away.

Third time's a charm. I've tried to read this book 3 times and each time I put it down for different reasons each time, like the writing is so good and I'm genuinely intrigued but this time I'm committed I will read this godforsaken book that's been sitting on my shelf for ages just staring at me with shame. We will finish this book even if it destroys me. I know I'll like it idk why I can't finish reading it.

This book caused me to have an autistic meltdown hyperventilating in my kitchen half an hour before going shopping. 10/10 would recommend, thanks Ava Reid.

DNFed Untamed bc it felt like being lectured about a thing I already know idk maybe if I was a lot younger and hadn't heard anything about feminism or thought deeply at all about queerness it'd hit different but it just read as annoying and all the examples given were so mundane like this is a memoir give me something to care about maybe that's a me problem but I couldn't care enough to get past 3 chapters.

once again stories set in california weird me out because I can just go there, like I can just drive to where the monsters in this story are what do you mean.

It's always weird to me when a book is set in California and the author uses real locations I'm super familiar with it's almost like an invasion of privacy it's so uncanny, like name dropping real streets and addresses is wild

Is this trashy? absolutely. Was the would cleaning scene still cute? Yes I totally get it, I'm a simple person tender moments like that are worth it. Also I know we're not supposed to like the vampire dilf but he's complex enough he circles back around to being likable and maybe my favorite character.

Reading this purely because I love pirates and I'm in desperate need of reading some fantasy right now but I'm also very pleasantly surprised by how good this is and the audiobook is so interesting in production to match the writing style
