2 observations while reading:
1. People sat 7 hours to watch Lincoln debate against someone else. Quite the attention span.

2. America was considered one of the pioneers in distributing books and being cultivated back in the 18-19th century. Some books in 1776 sold 400 000 copies in the US which would be 24 million copies in 1985. Crazy.
