Some bits are classic, fantastic Pollan -- other bits I end up just skimming

Plugging along -- begins with a somewhat gruesome description of whole-hog barbeque.

Thoroughly enjoying classic sci-fi.

First 25% was great, with history of the process really helping me better understand the value... after 50% it's beginning to feel like a slog.

I found this book while looking for "available" ebook titles at my local library ... I also happen to be starting an OKR process now at my new job... :)

Paused. Was in the mindset for this when I put it on my Holds list... have since changed back to something... not quite so deep.

Enjoying this book which explores essentially "coziness" and how important it is for the Danish people. And THEN I learned that salaried Danish workers earn 5 WEEKS of paid vacation per year. Um, woah.

really really enjoying this book. Put this on your reading list if you want an unfiltered, misanthropic, poetic, sensory-oriented series of vignettes centered around a desolate, untrammeled wilderness and a man’s struggle with it as he sees it fading into diminishment.

... I know I’m not into a book if I’m listening to podcasts instead.

eh... this is feeling like a hypothesis the author is testing by flying around the world.

so, I was listening to a serious work about the settling of the Ohio Territory, and it mentioned the historical figure of “Johnny Appleseed” — so off I went and found this kids book about him. It’s about the level of detail that I’m interested in.

one fifth of the way in, I can only presume that this is the settlement of the Northwest section of OHIO and not at all related to the Pacific Northwest. 🤪😀🙂😐

definitely a product of its time, providing an antidote for lots of problems, not all of which are pertinent in today’s business sphere

Listening to an audio book version… too bad it’s not read by the author — who has an incomparable voice.
