I read more this morning and I’ve been given the seeds of the plot - I can see where the story’s going to go

I added this to my tbr ages ago and started reading it randomly - I can see why I added it, got Pride and Prejudice vibes straight away

Read the first 2 chapters and I’m officially hooked!!

The prologue got me hooked. Let’s hope the rest of the book is as good

I was never hooked on Adam but damn what a douche 😂 In the novella we had between the previous book and this one we get a glimpse into his head and he didn’t even want to get Juliette back! I 100% understand and support that his main focus was saving James but after he was refusing to go save her and now he’s botching at her that she won’t do what he wants? Fuck that guy 😂

I’m really enjoying annotating a book for the first time.

Really like the world building in this book so far, it’s very interesting and things are described to you in such a good way.

I re-read the first 5 chapters because I decided I would annotate the book with some stickers. Green for Katniss, Orange for Peeta and White for the capital.

Katniss is questioning Peeta and how he is truly feeling and if he’s acting or putting on a play for the games.
We learn of Johanna early on!
I like that Peeta is stern and smashes the lass out of hamitch’s hand

I liked learning the origins of the jabberjays.
I’m enjoying getting more of an understanding of Katniss’ thoughts, with things like how she felt about the pin and her father.
I like that the pin was given to her by a friend rather than her just deciding to purchase it.
I liked the scene where Katniss gets so mad at Effies comments about manners she eats with her hands to piss her off.

Katniss is horrified that Peeta has been reeped because he was kind to her and she doesn’t want to kill anyone who has been kind to her.
I liked reading more about why that moment between Katniss and Peeta was so significant, it was more than bread, more than Peeta getting a beating for her, it gave her strength to hold out and to survive.
I like how Hamish is more of a drunk in the books, passing out on stage.

I like how she stars there’s absolutely nothing romantic between her and Gale.
I also like how we get to see how valuable Katniss is to the district, even though she doesn’t think they like her and only put up with her.
I liked how it was Prim’s little duck tail that sent Katniss over the edge to volunteering at the reeping.

Feel very weird reading this as an adult when it’s clearly a book for young teen’s. I find it hard to get into the headspace of the character. Maybe it’s just the writing style I need to get used to.

They just cracked how to make the fire messages! I nearly cried when kit came back to help grace like Orpheus on the myth she couldn’t look at him! 😭
And the message itself! Written by Grace blackthorn invented by Christopher light wood - omg I’m in tears 😭

Listening to this as an audiobook so I’m not sure what to put in as page/percentage 😅

Just finished chapter one - I understand why many consider H.P Lovecraft to be a classic. Glad I started reading 📖
