Gary is reading The Pier Falls
A series of well written, but kind of depressing, short stories.
'The Pier Falls' is written almost as an inquest summary, describing the sequence of events as they happen, and how many deaths occurred to that point.
The other stories are in a more conventional style. Some are strange, some based in sci-fi, others very real. An interesting read, but not one that I would return to.

Gary is reading How to Stop Time
Another interesting novel from Matt Haig. Interesting to read about the life of a character that has been alive since the 1500s, but it also makes you think about the impact of not aging and such longevity on relationships and interactions with society.

How does this have an average
rating over 4.2?
I don't get it! I don't feel
The rhythm or meter of
Wallace Stevens' work.

They don't feel like poems to me.
They are just words written where sentences are broken
Onto new lines where he feels like it,
with capital letters to start
Each line.
Regardless of the
Structure
That has gone before.

And some lines will deliberately rhyme,
But not every time
In the same poem.
