Bess Opal > Recent Status Updates

I think this is the point where I jump ship from Scarpetta for awhile. I stuck with it through Chandonne hoping it would get better, but I'm just not vibing with these most recent books. Maybe I will come back later with a fresh brain but for now, adios to Kay, Benton, Marino and Lucy.

I often see Karin Slaughter's books on the most disturbing lists but I never once wanted to vomit like I have multiple times during this book. The storyline is good but holy cow, I don't know if I've ever been so disgusted by a villain in my life.
I'm probably only finishing this because I want to get to Holly after reading The Outsider and a Reddit thread said I should read the Bill Hodges trilogy first 😬

This book is going to break my heart and I already know it 🥹
