I don't know if it's me, or if Ava's to blame for me actually following through with this one...she's got it way worse than me though! :D

This is by no means excellent poetry. It feels more like Avan Jogia reading snippets of his journal in the tone of someone reading slam poetry without actually reading slam poetry. ("Bark, bark.") There are some great lines, for sure, but I mostly enjoyed listening to this because I was on a walk; I was not enjoying my walk because I was listening to this.

Alice would adore "Scott Street" ... disgustingly so ... wow ... endless amount of quotes of not feeling like you belong at home! And Moore's prose ... who was going to tell me ??????? I'm in awe.

Day is a little TOO kind to men in this...example: "Not many men can understand what is it like to experience a menstrual cramp, let alone a miscarriage, in much the same way as I will never fully be able to comprehend the pain of being kneed in the testicles" (232). Uh...I simply do not agree with this take! While I will never be able to say that I KNOW that particular pain, this comparison is far too indulgent.

Considering I have a gnarly headache, I read a decent bit today. Reviews are a bit...unfavorable...but I'm enjoying it! Been reading this for almost a month, so clearly it's a slow read for me. As a self-proclaimed friendaholic, it's been of good use while meeting new ppl abroad. Now I'm very much self-aware about why I so desperately seek ppl out...a safety net so I'm not alone and scared and scared alone! #Growth!

Wow. I love Lily, but she sure makes this a stressful read (and I mean that in the best way...)! I still have a ways to go, so I'm sure she'll disappoint me a few more times, but I can't blame her entirely. Her life does not seem like a great time, but just how much of that is her doing? I get romanticizing things, but let's be realistic here! Hmm...I do believe I'm being a little hard on her...I will update soon...

HELLO????????????? I took ONE little break and boom! Mr Rochester proposes in the next chapter! Definitely my favorite chapter of the novel so far, and not just because of the proposal; the dialogue, the descriptions of "eventide", and Jane experiencing every emotion under the sun were all so beautifully written.

Mr. Rochester is HILARIOUS (⁠♡⁠ω⁠♡⁠ ⁠)⁠ ⁠~⁠♪ Every time he says "deuce" I actually laugh out loud. Big fan.

"'Mr Reed was my uncle, — my mother's brother.'
'The deuce he was! You never told me that before: you always says you had no relations' (pg. 251).

Ohhhh my god! Blue sounds so sultry in the audiobook :o I just adore her.

Currently tearing up so hard hearing Carmen Maria Machado explain her dog, Oliver’s, short life. Ow. :(

LMFAOOO, Libby is actually insane for this. I have to say, I’m impressed by her master plan, but she definitely should’ve told Nora way, way earlier.

Yeah, Harriet’s friends are fucking crazy ! Not to spam, but I’m just appalled by the sheer lack of realism in these characters. There is no WAY this group of people are “best friends”. They all suck, and not even in a cohesive way! Just wholly unbelievable, but I can’t back out now.

Am I enjoying this book? Not really, but Julia Whelan (VA) is DEVOURING the sad moments!!!!!!!!! I am impressed!

Ugh…I miss Miles and Daphne…instead of giggling and kicking my feet, Wyn and Harriet have me rolling my eyes every other minute, and I love corny relationship stuff! :(

I don’t know if I like Wyn. Or even Harriet. If I don’t like either of them by 20% I will be very sad.

This book has me giggling and kicking my feet and replaying certain moments and I’m not even that far in!!!!!!!!! For once I actually love BOTH leads (hopefully this doesn’t change, but I’m feeling optimistic)!

Wow, the letter on this page was quite sensual! What a way with words Blue has…beautiful! “I wish sometimes I could be less fierce with you. No—I feel sometimes like I ought to want to be less fierce with you. That this—whatever this is—would be better served by tenderness, by gentle kindness. […] To be soft, for me, is so often pretense, and pretense does not come easily while writing to you.”

Both this novel, and the novel(la) I finished the other day use “petal” as a term of endearment. Not exactly sure why this sticks out to me, but I love it. So sweet; so adorable. I missed Blue oh so very much.
