Only just started but I’m so excited! Been waiting months for this one to be released!

It’s a monster of a book! Enjoying re-reading it after 30 years or so

Enjoying reading this one alongside my 10 year old

Hmmm…. Not enjoying this one quite as much as I hoped. The characters don’t feel as well developed, and the plot is quite predictable…
… I had to take a break after reading about a woman who is knocked out cold by a deliberate hit to the head during a riot, remaining unconscious for a short while before opening her eyes just in time to be ravaged in a barn and climax three times before the riot is over. Huh?

I love that this book opens with a chapter about weather. The chapter on “grooming talk” is hilariously accurate, and I laughed until I cried at the chapter on humor. I haven’t enjoyed a book this much for ages. Proof indeed you can take the girl out of England, but not England out of the girl.

This is much harder to read than I expected, with frequent jumps between time and place. It’s so verbose it’s hard for me to wade through the fluff and find the important info.
I need to take a long break.

Is there ever a more appropriate time to read this than when enduring a forced lockdown?!

I’m dipping into this every now and again.. it can bubble away slowly in the background

I’m really enjoying this, especially the early descriptions of Jean-Baptiste’s beginning
