This is a very chaotic/hectic read. I don't know if I can finish it.

I'm a bit...bored? Someone tell me to stick with it.

DNF

I am having a really hard time getting into this book. There is very little dialogue and a lot of repetitive descriptions of all that "weighs on" the MMC and FMC. I feel like I was dropped into the middle of Onyx Storm but if all the characters were just depressed and felt alone and scared.

This is giving me Patrick Rothfuss The Name of the Wind vibes and I am all in for it. No spice (in case you're curious, given what I usually read)

This book is so bad 😂

The plot had potential but there is no world building, no character development, and most of the time I either dont know what's going on or people are just having sex that doesn't sound real.

So far it's 61% of boring. Every chapter is exactly the same with no character growth or redemption. Pretty disappointing 😕

Still nothing dark, despite almost every review saying this is their favorite part.

Academia?? They're high school teachers and there is basically nothing about them being teachers or the life of a teacher.

Found family? The main characters family just dies unexpectedly and it's barely described and then the main character doesn't grieve? She just adopts a new family right away.

I don't think I'll last...

How does this have 4.4 stars?! I'm about to DNF this. If anyone has read it, should I stick with it or nah?

Holy shit - is a thing I say repeatedly in every one of these books.

I absolutely loved House of Earth and Blood. Bryce was the strong female lead I dream of and the book was excellently written, even if the plot didn't make complete sense.

But I'm less than 20% in and there's a completely arbitrary no-sex rule and an unwanted betrothal? Color me skeptical that this book will stand up to the first one.
