Epic the musical hyperfixation so bad it has me re-reading the classics

The fmc is so dumb it hurts. All those skills and yet she still makes the wrong decision every time, acting on impulse with no regard as to what consequences her actions might have. How she’s survived to this age without getting caught is beyond me. Shout out to Jim I guess.

I have such a horrible sense of dread right now I don’t even want to continue. Which is dumb, because it’s made clear from the very beginning how this story is going to go. But I don’t know if I’m ready to face it.

Started this without reading the back and was already crying by the end of the prologue. The writing in phenomenal though, and I’m looking forward to continuing this even if it is emotionally taxing.

Really thought I was going to love this but this writing style is just not working for me unfortunately :/

On one hand I know it’s religious indoctrination and that she’s not totally at fault for these horrific beliefs she holds. On the other hand, she claims to be an academic in pursuit of the truth yet does nothing but try to confirm her own biases. How can you claim to be an academic yet refuse to question any of your own history and knowledge when presented with new information?? Just willfully ignorant & for what

I’m kind of sad because I really thought I was going to love this book but it’s really not doing it for me. Nothing is happening in the plot that is making me want to keep reading. In theory, we’re progressing through the tower, but so little is actually happening that I’m truly just bored. I keep waiting for something interesting to happen and it just isn’t. This might be a DNF for me unfortunately.
