Loving the cynical comments in this novel: ‘The quickest way for a modern Japanese woman to gain the love of a man is to become corpse-like.’

Fantastic dystopian story now available in English for those who don’t read French (Republic of glass).

“Sometimes a woman’s choice is between impossible and impossible and impossible, and she just has to make it.”

It took half of the book to finally get into the advertised storyline… Different type of story this time, but still same excellent storytelling if you’re into reading about self-doubting young female protagonists.

Really impressed by the sophomore novel of Mai Nguyen. She’s showing how much potential she has as a writer by introducing us to different themes and settings from her first novel. Bonus: I love how she does Asian representation, as the story isn’t about being Asian; it just happens that the main character is Asian.
