- people use magical ice swords but the world is 'modern'...was not expecting that
- oppressive/unhappy marriage situations happen but in books I don't like to read about them personally it's depressing
- propaganda plotline unfolding in an uninteresting way
- but this book is like super highly rated so i guess it gets better?
