I'm obsessed with this book! I stop and look around for reviews and comments as I read. Today I watched the Poured Over podcast by Barnes & Noble. It was Leif Enger from his home in Duluth.

Sometimes when I get a good way into a book and am still wondering what the heck I'm waiting for, I go online to see what has been said about it.
The words "murderously urbane" jumped out as me as I read the description.
And yet here I am, still plowing through...

The narrator of this audiobook, Anthony Herald, is amazing! I started reading this on Kindle but switched to the audiobook and he really brings it alive!

I'll miss Barbra's voice until my Spotify account renews next month. Spotify added 15 hrs of audiobook listening to Premium users. I could buy more time, but I don't mind waiting. I love listening to Barbra talk about her life and work!

I'm reading an edition that was done in 2010. In the Preface, the author tells the plot. That's fine. But then he tells what happens to one the main characters.
I am stunned. I've never read Lonesome Dove, nor watched movies or TV about it. What a jerk.

I was having trouble settling on an audiobook because many I want are in hold. I decided to go back in time to revisit authors whose books I enjoyed in the past. Celeste Ng is a wonderful author and I was pleased to find this one. It starts slow, but then takes off like a bullet. It's a cautionary tale.

I have to say, I’m glad I am giving this book a second chance. I started listening to the audiobook and was so turned off by the narrator’s voice, that I returned it.
Mind you, the narrator had a fairly accurate voice for the book, but it just got so it seemed like it was droning on and on and I found my mind wandering.
I am liking this book much better in my own voice.

Tonight we are reading Canto 25. Dante is at The Gate of heaven, has passed examination on hope by Peter and now will be quizzed by Saint James on HOPE.
We are near end of the Comedy

This book. I will be paying attention
To every single word in this book. I just finished a section where Lisa (because I now feel like we are friends) described in great detail living in Army enlisted housing, her Dad working shift work and going TDY and her Mom spending most of their money on food for the family and making every meal a little special. I’ve never heard someone describe my childhood.

I might not make it through this ridiculous book before it self-returns to the library. I’m listening while I walk the dog and it is not good enough to get me to pick it up any other times. It’s shallow and predictable.
