I’m in the “Stephen King is my favorite author and I get that he pours his heart out when he writes”, section, but there are things in this novel that aren’t needed, and if King were my student, he would have been kicked out of class for the amount of specific words he throws in all Willy-nilly.
Can we get to the final battle already 🤷‍♂️

So far:
-Salman Rushdie is a great writer (already knew that—you should read “Quichotte”, a reimagining of Don Quijote) who is lucky to still be alive.
-Plato’s Republic, specifically the part of “The Noble Lie” speaks so much truth about how those at the top rule over us at the bottom.

So. Much. Backstory.
Good backstory…
But lengthy backstory.

So far:
-Georgie’s death… meh. 😑
-Adrian’s death… better.
-Beverly whippin’ some abusive husband ass… priceless!

Beautiful writing and seething criticism of tyrants (and wannabe tyrants) out there.

Bro! Dave Grohl is a badass “storyteller” indeed. 3 stories in and I am enthralled.
Audiobook + physical are top notch.

I read a book…
It was spicy 🌶️
But in a cringe 😬 way.
I would give it 5 ⭐️

Book 2, done ✅
The plot thickens and becomes a lot more philosophical.
I hope Murakami sticks the landing.

Such a fascinating, but somewhat repetitive and awkwardly spicy read. I’ve been glued to the plot from the start, but have cringed here and there with some of the themes.

Book one, done ✔️
If you read the reviews, you’ll see gripes about misogyny and an over description of the female anatomy… it’s there.
But the story as a whole has me glued. 600 + pages to go!

It only took this long for the main female character to realize she was in a parallel world…
No biggie 🤷‍♂️

Compared to the last book I was reading… this was off to the races from page one! Very good so far 😁

What a slow, full of exposition start.
It’s a real slow burner of a plot.
Considered DNF’ing…
