nice turning around of the stereotypes generally applied to africans to now apply to the white imperialist instead. i like that, rhetorically

while i agree with massocki, some of the reasoning here is lacking the necessary steps to actually be logically sound and criticism-proof (acquitting gbagbo and saying he did not commit crimes against humanity does NOT automatically mean that these crimes against humanity were committed by his opponents. like, yeah, they probably were, but the ruling itself does not lead to that conclusion)

if ur gonna be pretentious n translate all the place names (making it impossible for readers familiar w japan to place ur story without constantly going back to the glossary) at least be consistent and do the same for peoples names because they ALSO have meaning and are frequently better known than place names (my korean friends know their names hanja + meaning, but not the hanja for any big korean city, for example)

literally translating the names of the provinces etc doesnt feel "authentic" it feels pretentious as hell. no one thinks of tokyo as "eastern city", no one thinks of shanghai as "on the sea", no one thinks of ha noi as "in the river". similarly, no one thinks of luleå as "at the lule river", no one thinks of austria as "empire to the east". yes, these places LITERALLY mean things, but the average guy DOESNT CAREEEE
