this book is crazy! started listening cause jeremy strong said this was one of his essentials for a GQ youtube video (in which i think he really misunderstood the assignment but it's all good). the author has a fucked up and twisted mind. the book is long and seems to feature detailed interior narratives about everyday shit. I think it's important for framing that I came into this book knowing that it had high praise

shit book so far. i already read (listened to) a significant portion of it, but i still found myself surfing twitter and betting FIBA basketball for 4 hours yesterday. not the panacea i was promised!

Found this book in a brooklyn bookstore (a brookstore, for short) for $7. It's a short book (small and only 130 pages), which is good. These older biographies are nice because they're colorful and don't always let attention to nuance and truth get in the way of a compelling story. As is suitable for my zoomer-era brain, each biography is short: I read the first (13 pages) in the subway ride home. It's about Galois.
