main character’s relationship with women is very interesting. Gay men, patriarchy, sexuality, gendered power, performance, limited intimacy, vulnerability. Calling his mother by her name, rejection of maternity and indication of a lack of maternal affection. Seems so cliche that his pattern with women is that of claiming power. Gay man and their performance of patriarchal masculinity in homosexual relationships.

Junie is a terrible person and I say this jokingly but seriously. I can’t believe she called stealing Athena’s manuscript as reparations for her own personal feelings of inadequacy. So far, I really like this book. In the beginning, it wastes no time by stating the first shocking thing that happens: Athena’s dead. I like this approach because it grabbed my attention and dared me to read the next page.

It’s a little hard to read.
