mmmm meh. It’s got good potential, but I’m not into the spice for two+ chapters right at the beginning of the book. I just want more….. substance? It feels like it’s not quite deep enough for the gravity of some situations, and it feels like we’re hopping from boulder to boulder instead of walking on a path of rocks.

This is kind of reading like Quicksilver to me: good concepts and bones of the world and story, but there are tons of contemporary references that keep yanking me out of the story. The FMC is also kind of annoying.
