After reading just the intro and 1st chapter, I find myself already to be profoundly affected. The unthinkable horrors caused by human beings is hard to fathom. I now think about not only the shocking stories my mother told me of the atrocities and moral failings of people but also of the untold horror she must have spared me from, recalling the pain and rage in her face when she closed her eyes silently remembering.
