lyrical and beautifully written .. i don’t know if i can get past the sexualising of young girls tho. Making my tummy turn.

Picked this book up in an op shop and i’m glad i did. Chad Taylor really has a way with words, bold, irreverent and opens up an incredible dialogue on love, lust, lies and identity. so different especially for a new zealand author.

i just want to demolish this book in one sitting but it’s the kind you have to put down and think about. such an interesting concept, through the perspective of someone/thing so curious and intelligent yet has never experienced human life. It can take a bit to pick up what she’s saying, the Red Shelves, the dead beggar man, the new AF’s, her descriptions of emotions and the cooting- thing. so so clever.

such well written & developed characters i swear my heart is breaking every few pages. very emotionally draining but so beautiful i don’t want to put it down

so far such an interesting take on capitalism and the way material items have come to hold more value than other people. the gore and objectification and absurdity is so necessary to fully understand Bret Easton Wills’ vision, as intense as it is :,)

great honestly just wanting to finish it at this point tho
