Look. I’m only a few chapters in…. But holy wow this might be my new favourite book of the year - topping my previous frontrunner, “the Blacktongue thief”. The narrative voice is just… *chefs kiss*, I already LOVE the humour, the characters and the settings. It’s making me jealous that my writing style isn’t more similar to this. I LOVE IT. Looking forward to updating this review by the time I finish.

I am a bit disappointed because I was quite excited to read this book, and yet for some reason something isn’t quite hitting the mark for me. The writing itself is very good and the descriptive language is beautiful. I just think the Main character Elaysia is an insufficient storyteller for me. She seems so naive and needlessly annoying, but for some reason everyone around her loves (or at least lusts) after her.
