Soseki met the woman who inspired the famous heartbreaker Naomi, Tanizaki’s dream girl! It’s amazing to think how small the world used to be. Soseki has only been famous for a few years and he’s already met pretty much everyone there’s to know.

We need a shift of the attention to something other than men. Alessandra is so young, so talented, so strong. So much more interesting than the men around her. She should be the star of her life and the center of her thoughts, not the men.

Soseki has been compared to Chekhov but to me he is very Tolstoy-like, though and through. Just pick up Anna Karenina and read it along with Light & Dark, you’ll see.
