They were genuinely spitting straight facts in the preface/intro. It's actually insane how accurate the assessment of young musicians is, decades upon decades later.

Read this once in jr high school. 10+ years later, I grabbed it from the shelf so I could pack it to move for my new apartment, and decided to flip through to see if I could find the story for a film I had been thinking about, and next thing I knew, 2 hours had passed. I had missed calls, texts, etc. this book is INSANE. So I am re-reading it!!
