Vulgar language. Clearly leading to plenty of steaminess.

In Which Margo Halifax Earns Her Shocking Reputation (Halifax Hellions, #1)

Really bad narration by Christina Carman. She gives the main character a voice like a wrinkled old GOBLIN. I'm guessing the author wanted an empowered elderly woman. Not a ridiculous caricature that doesn't even sound like a woman.

The narration is what I would expect for a children's book (which this book is not). Extreme and ridiculous.

Trying to listen to the story without letting the narration ruin it.

This was my second attempt with this 17-hour audiobook. It's not bad. I just realized at 7 hours in... I didn't care. Not compelling. It's like a fictional history book of medieval times. Not for me.

Do not read any more by this author. You picked this up at least 4 times. The beginning is dramatic, heavy, political, not fun. It doesn't even get interesting until 45% through (or later). There are also mild editing issues throughout and the girl repeats herself throughout the book.

Another depressing "Christmas" book the masses insisted be read, so you can have some heartbreak, too.

Spoiler alert: God loved his children & let them die. Dead children are used to give the message to love your children & spend time with them. Not sure who this book is for. Who needs this message, that will read a book like this, & receive it from a book.

Felt like it was unfinished. No clarity on the mystery - just that there was something bad.

Very interesting book. Kind of a ghost story. I started another book by this author: it had creepy elements from the beginning so I returned it. I probably won't read another book by this author because of the ghost / creepy elements. The ending was awkward - the protagonist smiling during a battle against evil. Unanswered Qs: What happened when everyone saw what she had done to the dig; what about her parents?
