Kiran Desai jugalah yang membaca terjemahan bahasa inggris tulisan Orhan dan memberikan banyak saran berharga.

Jadi pada tahun 2009 karena penerbangan di Rajasthan banyak yang dibatalkan karena krisis ekonomi dunia, akhirnya Orhan dan Kiran nyewa mobil di Jaisalmer menuju Jodhpur. Di tengah perjalanan yang melewati padang pasir irulah Orhan membaca ulang eseinya Schiller dan mendapatkan banyak inspirasi untuk menulis buku ini.

Bernard Vonnegut sendiri adalah kakak dari penulis Kurt Vonnegut. Kurt Vonnegut terispirasi penelitian kakaknya dan jadilah novel Cat’s Cradle, sebuah novel yang bisa dibilang Sci-fi ice horror dengan ice-nine-nya.

Perpustakaan di abad 16 dan sebelumnya mempunyai buku-buku yang di rantai menggunakan rantai kecil dan rantai itu terhubung ke besi di rak buku, sedikitnya buku pada waktu itu membuat cara ini terbilang efisien untuk mengamankan buku. Buku-buku di susun dengan sampul depan menghadap ke luar...Cara menyusun buku dengan punggung buku menghadap ke luar baru dilakukan pada abad berikutnya...

Pertama liat cover buku ini awalnya mengira buku ini tentang sejarah sampul buku, terutama jenis-jenis sampul buku... Ternyata buku ini membahas tentang sejarah rak buku... Rak buku, benda yang paling sedikit mendapat perhatian dibandingkan buku-buku yang ditampungnya...

Wow... gak nyangka kalau kakek Dahl setelah mengalami kecelakaan pesawat karena ditembak musuh dan gak bisa terbang lagi di RAF, ternyata dia jadi agen inggris yang ditugasin ke Amerika untuk urusan propaganda.....
