Here we are, the last entry and then I’ll be all caught up with this series. It’s been a wild ride and I can’t wait to find out what happens… and have my heart ripped out over and over again…

It’s been a year since I read the first book but I enjoyed it enough to come back. I’m a sucker for space detective stories thanks to Detective Miller from The Expanse. I’m in the right mood for this I think!

I’m stopping this one for now. Have no motivation to read it and not having fun. I think I am just burnt out on Sun Eater after going non-stop since Howling Dark including novellas and short stories. Pivoting to another sci-fi. I’ll come back to this next year maybe, if I get an itch for it.

End of Part Two. This was an edge-of-your-seat romp through treacherous lands. Some memorable action scenes and gut-wrenching deaths. This has been a backstory novella I wanted and needed to read. Really sheds new light on Aeson and the motives for his jerkiness to Calen.

I’ve read, perhaps, my favorite set of chapters in the entire series thanks to the veil being pulled back on so much that has been going on since book one. I love this series, love this book, and suspect this would be satisfying to do a re-read on someday.

I enter this book with some apprehension given that I’ve heard it’s relentlessly dark and brutal. We’ll have to see how this shakes out…

Ready to dive into this very curious backstory. I have loved the novellas of this series so far and can’t wait to learn more!
