Picked this book up for the cats, but I'm just 15 pages in and already exasperated with the writing. Also, the main character is 46 but the author makes it seem she's 86 as she apparently doesn't know the value of social media, how to work a computer, or that a webcam isn't something dodgy? Geesh.

The first book ripped my heart out, but this one so far is extremely disappointing. Rather than being reunited with the characters I've gone through so much with, it's like they're completely different people, written by a different author. It feels very jarring. Kate was clearly the glue that not only kept kept her friends and family together (and sane) but also the first book. Hope it'll get better.

Oh man, I wish I'd checked out the rating on Goodreads before picking this one up. It's a poor man's Emily Henry. I dislike so much about the novel; the casual cussing, the fact that a MALE author is trying to write a cottagecore romance but ends up describing a terrible Fifty Shades rip off, and the utter lack of chemistry between the main characters. But given I'm half-way through I feel oddly compelled to finish.
