Just started this book and I got to the point where the girls get in a car with a stranger and realized, “I don’t think this book is about Climate Change.”

In this memoir the author talks about her antiracist journey. How she went to I don’t see white to wow I am so white. If you are white or white adjacent this book is for you. It explains racism and micro aggressions and “opens the eyes” so that you will understand systemic racism.

Life is just a tAste of what is to come

God is not a genie

communal lament- collective wail- we are not alone

Treat your body with gentle and care

Beholding one another. We accept and make space for one another. When you behold someone you don’t compare them to anyone else. Start with your self. Behold your self. And then do it to others.

We were taught in the church to see each other as potential mates and not as co-heirs of Christ. With their teaching of gender roles and sexual purity.

Take a practice in centering prayer, walks without distractions, spend uninterrupted time with Jesus, turn off notifications, limit screen time.

Alone with God is where we can be healed

When we are alone with God we are complete

Being alone is uncomfortable.

Ministry is the stuff of life. It is challenging. It’s rough, not cute. We choose to lay down our lives daily.

Here I am Lord- suck it out

God is predictably good

Loneliness is a great teacher if you let it teach you.

Anger can come from unmet needs and expectations

God along with you and your community to help you flourish

You are not the only one who has seen the glory of God and question his ways

It’s okay to ask God questions. See David’s psalms of despair.

Nothing is wrong you. Trust the Lord. And you are never alone and you are loved.

Know yourself. Look at what you do have. Don’t settle for toxic friendships. Long-distance friendships are worth it. Be consistent with your opportunities to maintain friendships. Practice gratitude daily. Ask your friends to show up for you. Cultivate cross-cultural friendships.

We need each other that means receiving and giving hospitality.

We all need to give time to Jesus- serving the Lord isn’t just for singles. Many single people live busy leaves because they don’t have a partner.

You can’t take your careers and marriages into heaven but you will have friends.

We need to see the humanity in each other instead of objectifying each other
