first time reading Didion! i’m very excited & am enjoying it so far

i get the vibe and all but some aspects of this feel sooo painfully repetitive and i’m only a third of the way in!! hopefully this improves somewhat at some point…

yearly reread! i’m already exasperated by my 2021 self’s annotations but i’ll cope
i’m curious to reread the second half especially, i feel like i might get things i didn’t get the other times around

The 3rd novella was a lot of fun as well! The mystery aspect of it was really fun, and I liked all the lore we got from the Blackfyre rebellions. Bloodraven is kind of an icon I fear.

The second novella was fun, very different from the first but i liked the change of pace. Love that Egg is learning that the smallfolk are people 😍 he’s part of the 1% of Targaryen to ever do and i love that for him
Was the marriage between the young lady and the old man really necessary though? I get why it happened but like, ew.

grr martin says this is his best work and i agree so far. The writing is sooo good !! and at times dunk reminds me of young fitzchivalry farseer in a way enlightened eyes will understand
