So fun and so sad and so thought-provoking, just as all Terry Pratchett's books are!!!! His kid's books are often the heaviest, and while this isn't as dark as the Tiffany Aching books, this superficially fun little book about a boy playing video games gets quite serious and heavy about halfway through. Start a paragraph laughing and end it with tears in your eyes!! Definitely going to read the whole series.

I'm giving up on this, it is quite possibly the worst book I have ever read. Jumping between characters within scenes, randomly changing tenses, it's even been switching between 1st & 3rd person!! Wtf!! As well as being full of pretentious badly done purple prose — & I love silly purple prose when it's done well. This is completely unreadable. Skipping it and going to the next one, hope nothing important happens lol

Great book so far. An engagingly written history of literature, art, and celebrity as much as of amateur cricket. Originally picked this book up for being one of the rare books which mention my beloved E.W. Hornung as anything more than a single sentence lol and it's not disappointing on that front! But the whole book and all the players are proving very interesting, not least Barrie himself. Ah, the 1890s...

"They thump down with aplomb. Perfect in their plumage."

Uuuughhhhhh I hate this style of writing SO MUCH this one is gonna be a damn slog of a read. And I don't like all the snarky jabs at star trek either, they come across as bitter rather than affectionate, very out of place and forced.

Come on book, get good and change my mind, plleeeeeaaase!!!

...So far not enjoying this. I'll read it to get to the next one, but jeez! It's muddled & confusing, the story jumps around between so many characters & locations & perspectives, but whereas "Interference" did this with panache ease, "The Blue Angel" is so clunky. And the writers keep switching tenses seemingly at random. I hate present tense at the best of times, let alone when it dips in & out for no reason...
