On hold. My loan ran out. It’s fine so far. 15 hours down and I need a break.

I’m so invested in this book.

I read the reviews before I started this book and a lot of people wanted the hours of their life back that they spent reading this book. I thought that was pretty harsh, but halfway through this book… I’m in their camp.

I l thought I liked Harry. I thought this would be funny, give a little interesting insider info. Ohhhh, au contraire. Now I see why they are all mad at him. Who does this to their own family?

I ran out of time on my first library check out at 36%. It’s not a gripping story, but I’ll finish it. Back in line.

This is a rough read. It’s starting to pick up, but started out a bit like the Old Testament right down to the genealogy of the families. It’s been like 8 years since he wrote something, so I’m having a really hard time following all the characters and houses introduced so far. I’ll never finish before my 3 weeks. So…I’m slogging though as much as I can before I get back in line.

The angst is getting tiring. I have a big secret, I don’t communicate, I make myself crazy with inaccurate assumptions, and cause my own problems. That is the theme of this book.

I’m nearly halfway through and still don’t know what it’s about. This book hasn’t even set up the characters. We’re just watching Kell wander around.

I’m so interested in this story and want to read more. I wish the narrator were from Newfoundland, though. He’s trying to describe their accent, which is a whole thing of its own.

Still struggling. It’s picked up a little, but not enough.

So far this book is annoying. I’m sticking with it for a while longer to see if it improves. It reads like an entry in a high school literary competition.

Why, exactly, on book #21 did they decide to have the narrator change Gabriel Allen’s accent? We know his background, but I’m totally thrown off as I listen. BOOK TWENTY-ONE.

Still waiting. This book is a total miss.

I’m struggling. When does this pick up?

I’m struggling. I am not sure I need to know about every tiny detail of every practice and every game... I can’t find the will to keep coming back. Is there a big event, or are we going to keep chronicling every day of the year? What did Jen eat for lunch? Did girl Cori get a pink purse when she went shopping for a blue one?

Good so far. Waiting for something substantial to happen.

Ok. I’m wondering where this meandering tale is going. There’s still a ton left. I’m only in the middle...

I didn't think this book could be worse than the last one. Oh, but it is. The Aspen/Maxon/Aspen/Maxon issue has been replaced with tell me you love me, no you tell me you love me.

You say it first. No you say it first. How can you love me if all these other girls are here? How can I send these others away if you won't say you love me? Ugh.

I'm still waiting for the point. It's odd when the set up for whatever is going to happen takes nearly a third of the book.

I found myself yelling at the narrator wondering why we were spending so much time with the old, mean woman. Then we had to hear about her servant and the selfish American daughter of the old woman. Who cares?!?

But then the connection was revealed. Sigh. Ok. I guess this is her style. I need more patience.

Ran out of time on my library checkout. Please hold while I wait in line to finish this. Ugh.

I think I'm actually going to finish this book. I had my doubts, but plowed through. Oh Liane, why, why, why? What happened? I think this book was your cello audition and your wolf note was creeping in.

I'm dying. How could a Liane Moriarty book bore me like this? I waited for this one from the library for FOUR months. And I'm only on chapter 19 out of like 62. The feeling this book gives me is like sitting in a waiting room and continuing to check the time.

I hope it picks up soon.

I'm wondering when this book will end. Did I need a deep detailed account if the entomologist's collection? The excruciating detail is putting me to sleep.
