This ability to respond to reality, to what the concrete situation at hand calls for, comes not from our doing, but from the enabling power of that heavenly reality in the situation itself. What facing reality calls for, the reality facing us calls forth

in short, responsibility for that over which we have control derives from the ability-to-respond to that which we do not control, namely the reality from heaven that is at hand.

From such soundings as these we are led to conclude that the word heaven primarily refers to nothing less than what are proclaimed to be the current conditions under which our life is really being lived. We may or may not find this way of speaking about "the real world" now taking place credible, but to hear of heaven in this scriptural context is certainly to hear news of what is announced at leaste to be the most..
