Really resonated with Pips yearning to be what he deemed a better person. Once he was granted the means though he seemed too high and mighty.
I like how the part about the prisoner and the file seemed to be resolved, but actually had everlasting effects.

I’m surprised at how quickly the stealing seems to have been accounted for

For the first part: didn’t think I would enjoy a book that is so wholesome, but it was very nice to read.

The second part has taken some time to grow on me, but I am now enjoying it more than the first. Just finished ch. 34 and felt so much for Mr. Bhaer. Am now going to start ch. 35, but wanted to update my progress as I feel like I’ll have much to say after.

Things are getting more dramatic.

Really liked the portrayal of the relationships between the ppl at the other house (while Jane was sick). Interested to see how things go with their cousin

So far so good. I really like the pace at which the plot is unfolding. I’m more used to books that spend many chapters on a night (thinking of The Idiot). The story itself is good too. I also like the time period and the lack of modern communication and transportation. Doesn’t detract from the story or make it out seem too outdated, and it’s interesting to think about.

Could not have predicted all that happened today. Plot is getting better. Could genuinely see myself re-reading the book with the new context in mind.

What a blunder.

I wonder to what extent pity was involved in Kekesfalva marrying his wife, and if this will come up in the future. The narrator’s realization that he hasn’t taken the time to really dig into the history of the people he’s been visiting for a month also makes me think a lot about the relationships I take for granted.

Really really liking the book so far. Love the inner turmoil of the character and the direction of the story.

Yale mentioned. Starting to see hints of where this is going though which is interesting. The book overall just paints such a good picture of a different time but is also still so relatable

I wonder what’s going to play out in the book.

I just now read the description of it though which made me more interested in continuing to read it.

I really had no idea what this book was going to be about. I’m liking it so far. Am excited to see how it wraps up.

So far so good. This is the third time I’ve tried to read this book (and I think I haven’t gotten to the story before). I really liked his journey of deciding what to study and being a scientist.

Honestly this book is so frustrating to read at times. If I was one of the characters I would crash out

Ch. 28 has been my favorite chapter. The switched positions of Dobbs and Yossarian to start the chapter and the Orr to end it.

So far so good. Have really been liking where the story is going and the characters and how it’s starting to come together. Not a far of non-linear story telling at times but oh well
