I am flying through this! It's middle grade but so well written that I would recommend it to anyone that's into folk horror without gore!

Guessed the first twist, have a theory on the next one. Still flying through it!

Wowza. This one came out swinging and hasn't stopped. A stupid mistake snowballing into murder within 24 hours? Buckle up. I hope this pace continues.

Really enjoying that Lady Tremaine has the POV here but she's not a perfect angel. She is tough and plucky. Snow White is a spoiled princess. Loving it so far.

It's holding my interest, building up the story of how our MC committed murder (not a spoiler, it's in the blurb), but I'm anxious for some action.

Intriguing from page one!

Exhaustion, she realizes, is only unpleasant when one has to resist it. But when succumbing is an option -- when everything is still and quiet and there's no reason to push the strong arms of sleep away -- exhaustion is ecstasy.

It's taking a minute to work up to the meat of it, but I'm really enjoying the build up. Definitely establishing how the main character gets herself into trouble.

They're not lying when they say that this book is steamy and disgusting and weird. I'm here for it.

Well, it took until Chapter 34 for Bix/Dorothy to finally have a breakthrough in their identity. This book is a great premise, but that 30+ pages of being stuck in the mental hospital could have been much shorter.

So far very anxiety-producing. Reminiscent of Jason Bourne and maybe Quantum Leap. So many comps, but still seems original so far.

I was getting close to DNFing but we're getting somewhere now.

Wow... This book goes straight into the action. Can't wait to see where this goes.

Still not a ton going on yet. Things are happening but it's just not keeping me on my toes.

I was sucked in from the beginning. I’ve heard people use the word gothic for this but I’m getting straight up mystery so far.

Both cheeky and inspirational. Ingredients aren't too far out for the average household bar. There are a few N/A options. I can't wait to make some of these drinks.

I love this quote; “Oh, Michelle. We aspire to your intellect, your poise, your power, and your arms. And often fall short. But “when they go low, we go high” will never stop being the right advice, the voice of our own better angel.”

It's hard to believe this is YA. It's smart and funny and a little scary.

Sometimes YA books are so good. I'm listening to an audiobook arc and it's occasionally hard to follow who's who (even with different narrators) but it's starting to click. I spent today at work wishing I could take the day off to listen. Off to a good start!

Gorgeous

Solid thriller so far. Having a teeny bit of trouble remembering who belongs to which "team".

The Southern Gothic vibes are building.

Definitely some good ideas on how to have a better relationship with movement. The whole chapter on how to overcome an aversion to sweat was eye-opening for me. I don't have that problem and didn't realize that was actually a thing!

This book is GORGEOUS. I can't believe it's YA. The prose is so good.

I really like it when YA horror isn't childish. This is not reading like YA even though the main characters are teens.

As we learn more about Margot, the lengths to which she will go start to become apparent. What seemed innocuous before is maybe... not so much!

Y'all. I am having so much fun with this. It's one of those books that you wish you could sit still long enough to read in one sitting.
