It took me a while to get used to Lilith using we and then she started using both we AND me. My theory is that once Lilith met Jordan, the feelings are hers alone. I need to ask Clay!!!

Do I like romance?

OK. Now I'm struggling with the repetitiveness of the cat and mouse trope. Better be a twist or something soon.

I'm flying through this but I'm not enjoying it. I can't explain it.

We have established that our main character has a rich imagination and now the folk horror is kicking in.

I thought I would just read a couple of chapters before bed and then stayed up way too late reading. oops.

Juicy drama!

Trigger warning: This is the most horrific depiction of war that I have ever read. The gore level tops most horror books. That said, I'm invested in the mystery of the angel.

Yes, it was already on my TBR because of the gimmick (one sentence) and the premise (ANGELS!), but I bumped it up to the top because of the Pulitzer. Knowing it was about war, I might have let it linger there. We'll soon see if I regret it.

I am absolutely LOVING this audiobook. I was a bit afraid to pick it up because Listen to Your Sister traumatized me, but I'm so glad I did!

So far, this is a really engaging, fun fantasy and I'm loving it.

It took a minute to get into it, but it really is adorable and the drama is finally starting. I guess the fact that I need drama says more about me as a thriller reader than it says about a cozy fantasy.

The way the narrator is telling the story was distracting at first but I got used to it and became really invested. Brittany Presley is always an amazing narrator.

This was categorized as slow-paced, which is one of the reasons that I chose it for a reading challenge (read a book at the pace you read the least). I'm listening to the audiobook and flying through it. Some of the banter between the men and women is a little dated, but I got used to it.

More detailed spice. So now we have a spicy romance with a slasher mystery.

So far this seems like a cozy slasher. The MC gushing over her husband is getting a little old. There was a spicy scene that may serve a purpose later.

I’m not as immediately immersed in dread as I was with The Silent Companions, but I’m enjoying the build-up.

It's cute. I wanted a Black romance for Black History Month and thought a YA would be fun. I'm right so far!

Main character is insufferable but also tragically damaged from childhood and a mythical, absent, dead mother. Creepy Christian hubby might be cheating. Competitive with the Utah trad wives. Wants a baby but hubby won't sleep with her. Wishes for a baby to the wrong entity. Oops.

Not my usual type of thing, but I'm enjoying it. Is this what the call Grimdark? It's a bit misogynistic and the beast attacks while sporting a raging erection, so there's that.

It's January so I'm looking forward to learning how to make the most of my raised garden beds!
