She calls every barkeep Jak, which was her dad’s name. So she calls them all Jak/Dad? She didn’t know him after she turned 5.
Also, she explained why she was barefoot and didn’t have leather boots on, but then she stomps her boot because she is frustrated.
I’m hoping this gets better and doesn’t end up as a DNF.

Interesting concept, but I’m feeling like I’m missing definitions to some of these concepts. Thankfully they are capitalized so I know they are important for why I’m not so sure… Stormveil. Dreadwall. Channel. Sheets. Silence. These words mean nothing to me and I’m hoping that it’s explained soon.

Every time I pick this up to read I question my sanity and why I’m continuing to subject myself to these characters. Self centered, narcissistic, terrible people that fall in love with each other after vehemently hating each other? If I worked on this ranch I would quit to get away from the toxicity. And City Girl’s ‘dead daddy issues’? Get over it. He walked away. A child cannot parent their parent.
