So far incredibly gripping with lush writing and evocative prose. Not to be corny, but Prakash makes the city come alive on the page.

It's actually quite cute and heartfelt so far- I also adore all the Hollywood trivia.

I'm not loving it. Some of the dialouge in particular is pretty clunky and I'm not quite sure how I feel about the writing of many of the POCs.

Stevens has done an excellent job establishing the roots and history of various movements within LA county. He treats none as a joke, analyzing why they failed rather than assuming their end to be a historical inevitability or attributing it to some immutable fail-prone nature of Angelenos.
