been reading quite a few ~hate the main character~ type books, and oh my god; they grip you in such a specific way, can't stand this girl!

she's (almost) the perfect example of everything wrong with ignorant white people. not those ~on the front lines of racism~ types, but those who are blindly influenced by culture without questioning morality, becoming bystanders and sometimes (in this case) perpetrators

on the last chunk, one of my favourite books ever, i've always looked for stories of dominant women falling under the pressures of the patriarchy or through queer male suffrage and self sabotage. in this growing fascist world femininity is so important, needs to be cherished and protected, it's refreshing to read a queer novel about hardship and imperfect romantic relationships in a queer womens lense, love

the domestic abuse, and themes of it are showing now and it's exploded so well, written beautiful as well as plainly and raw, I'm very obsessed, and the references oh my this book just came to me at the perfect time
