This second half has been just as amazing as the first half of the book. But now we are nearing the end and things have become more intense and surprising It's been a long while since I was really into a book like I am with this one. The story never has any lagging moments or what I call "filler" writing. Everything flows easily and tells a story in such a way that I see a movie in my head.

Wow! Wasn't expecting to enjoy this story so much. But I think the dramatization style of this audiobook is really helping me to reel me in. I can see the story play out in my head like a movie. Violet and Dain seem like they should be together but Xaden seems to have his own ideas for Violet and it isn't only murderous but something dangerously forbid or not expected. Enemies to lovers vibe.

Love the narrators work so far. Although she did slip at one point and forgot to change her voice for a male character's dialogue. The mystery is picking up steam.

So far so good. I can't wait to get to the more dramatic part of the story. Right now it is still building up the characters and events that lead to Ben's demise.

I'm at ch 14 and the book just dragged up until ch 11. The real meat of the story starts at ch 11 and the rest is just hints and builds up. This book wasn't what I was expecting for such a title. I was hoping there would be more VENGENCE and not all this teen angst. I pray that this book speeds up to where Anne actually starts getting her ghoulish vengeance on whomever murdered her AND I suspect her best friend.

About to start chapter 3 but already I am confused and have questions? She said she Almost died and I took that to mean a Near Death Experience.. as in dying and then being brought back to life. Which would explain why she could see dead people now. But that wasn't what happened,. *Spoiler* She only ALMOST got hit by a bus but not died but who hasn't had nearly the same thing happen and STILL not see ghosts after?

Almost halfway in. I enjoy the chapters that have narrator CJ Bloom narrating. She gives the male character Dane more personality and humor in his voice that makes him charming and likeable. Same with the female character Amanda. Can't say the same for narrator Connor Crais. He comes off flat and in need of lots of coffee. Too much monotone in his voice.

The last chapter was HOT and steamy and gave me the AWES... that is until the very last page set me up for what horrible thing will come for Trixie in the next chapter. The fact that Chapter 26 is called "Trigger Warning" can give you an idea of how bad it will be for poor Trixie. We big girls just can't catch a break.

I'm really enjoying this book more than I thought I would. Sometimes the hype doesn't meet the reality. This time it did. Thank You, BookTok.

This story is dragging and I'm waiting for it to finally get to the mystery. But something tells me from the build up that it won't be much of a mystery. Or at least not any kind that I enjoy. I hope I am wrong.

I'm really enjoying this story. And we haven't even gotten to the hot and heavy romance. We are still in the friend zone of the story and it is just such a good nice build up to what we know is to come for Chris and Trixie.

So far it has been so engrossing. I started the book as a SAMPLE kindle book but then I was hooked and just HAD to download the entire book. No regrets there. This is the first book this year that I have been so wrapped up in that I say to myself too many times "Just one more chapter" and then it isn't "Just one more chapter".

Although there are some elements that fit a formula but other things make it unique.

This book is a prequel of series w/the sub tittle of *A Dark Omegaverse Cinderella Retelling*. So far, other than the mean step-mother and mean step-sister in the earlier chapters, there is nothing close to a Cinderella Retelling. Ch. 14 left a bad taste in mouth as it's just nothing but a r*pe scene, coercion , "grooming", subjugating and manipulation all under the guise of Alpha/Omega culture of this story. NFM

I'm only a fourth way in and I've already lost interest. The story is just isn't appealing to me. Although I love the strength and conviction of our heroine in the story I am not a fan of the brutal misogynistic storyline of the male characters. And from what I can tell so far the brutality our leading lady will endure will not end anytime soon. I think it may be best if I shelve this book and move on.

I'm fairly at the beginning of the book but I'm on the verge of putting it on the DNF list. I started the book because I'm a fan of Penelope Sky but this is a little darker than I like.

Our heroine if feisty and is the kind of woman I admire for not easily willing to capitulate to anyone; despite the brutalities she endures. She is the only character in the book I like as all others are despicable and sick.

It was a very slooow burn to get the story going. The first chapter had me intrigued and then when the story time jumped in the next chapters I wasn't feeling so excited. It started to sound more soap opera story telling and less mystery. But now that I'm half way in everything is picking up speed and the shadiness of some characters in coming to the forefront and making things very very interesting.

At the last chapter before the epilogue. Story finally tying up to it's inevitable HEA ending.

So far the book reads easy and moves fast with all its cliche' tropes. At this point the book is at its where they are at odds and heartbroken and filled with regrets. And soon we will be nearing reconciliation and HEA.

Got to Chapter 27 and suddenly became heart heavy and started to weep while driving into work. Although the book from the start made it clear that it was about child abduction and I was prepared mentally for what maybe the end result it still didn't prepare me emotionally for the final results of the FBI's discovery of these little girls. Any crime against children, animals, and the elderly is hard to swallow.

Got to Chapter 35 and I got a little choked up. This book has taken me on a few emotional rides but this is the first time where I felt a little Verklempt.

Got to Chapter 33 had me giggle to myself when Posey mentioned walking in on Halsey in the shower sporting a sporting blue balls that looked like Violet Beauregarde. LOL! I love a good reference to a book or a movie character.
Usually when I am stuffed from a meal I call myself Violet Beauregarde and will ask someone to roll me out. BWAHAHAHA! I amuse myself.

I'm enjoying this book so far. It started FAST and HOT with the protagonist and now it has become a slow burn with both growing towards each other. But the best part is how funny some of these chapters are and how easy the story flows. Although my favorite LAUGH OUT LOUD chapter so far is Chapter 13. That had the best seen between Eli and Penny. Penny is NUTS and Eli is a Prince to take it all in stride.

Things are starting to get interesting. Let's see how Diana is going to handle this new curvball to her plans to save her sister.

The first 7 chapters were hard for me to get through because I felt the writing was awkward. I had to reread sentences that felt a bit stilted. But as the story moved along the story got better and the dialog more palatable. And then the story got really good. Lots of hot steamy moments, tender moments, and certainly a lot of Laugh Out Loud humorous moments that had me in stitches. I hope more is to come.

I'm at chapter 26 and I was tickled pink at the mention of Glen Ivy Spa in Corona, California. It is my favorite spa to visit. This really highlights how much of a SoCal resident the author must be because while non SoCalers would mention well know places like Santa Monica or Hollywood or Disneyland they wouldn't know about a great place like Glen Ivy Hot Springs Spa in Corona, CA.

*SPOILER* Ugh! I'm nearly half way through the book and NOW a body finally shows up. sigh. For the better part of the book so far it has been no action or mystery or anything but poor aristocrats bemoaning their lack of funds and yet are able to keep domestic help and go to posh affairs via gate crashing. And not to mention how useless they are at simple tasks. It's a wonder they can wipe their own bottom.

I'm in chapter 6 and still no dead body or mystery. This is dragging a bit. I'm use to some crime being done at least within the first 3 to 4 chapters of a book. I wish the story would get to the juicy part already instead of all this build nonsense having to do with Georgie's royal linage and yada yada yada.

Things are heating up significantly. Games of will are being played and more secrets are being divulged.
