If they qualify for SNAP, they qualify for Medicaid, which would cover them for medical care. If his mom skipped bail, she would have an active arrest warrant. Custody would be transferred to his grandmother. Joe would be assigned a caseworker, who would reassign custody when Grandmum dies. They wouldn’t assign it to someone who had an active arrest warrant.

Informative but could have used an editor to cut the extraneous details. DNF

Interesting at first then it starts to fall apart as he shifts from autobiographical narrative to his bizarre theory of “luxury beliefs” which somehow equate to progressive beliefs, which he thinks are luxury bc he heard them at Yale I guess? Some serious logical fallacies and presumptions abound in the latter half of this book.

Made it just over halfway through. Just lots of random descriptions of relationships with little insight into them. Couldn't finish it.

The section on Bernie Bros is reductive. She doesn't talk about how damaging the Clintons were to women and people of color. Stats on Bernie supporters who voted for Trump to argue that the Bernie camp didn't engage in ID politics enough (but most were probably libertarian). The Clintons paid lip service to identity politics while doing nothing legislatively to positively impact women and communities of color.
