Marie is starting Ma and Me
Family dynamics are hard, and this memoir really hit home with me. I loved it for so many reasons, but mostly the brutal honesty. Although the food references had my tummy growling.

It’s hard for me to sometimes enjoy a story when a character is so unlikeable. I saw the ending coming a mile away and just couldn’t fall in love with this one.

Cute read aloud with my son. Who doesn’t love a good pirate treasure story!

One of my favorite authors favorite books. Steinbeck is always an interesting take on the world.

I wanted to love this, but I just couldn’t get things to turn out. My waffles were flat. I’ll try again, but while I love her approach (no fussy cooking) it just missed the mark for me.

Such a heart-wrenching story! I read a review that through this story a person realized that you are better off being a drink, rapist, or abusive man than a woman. After reading I understand this and don’t disagree. The human trafficking, rape, abuse, disfigurement was hard to read about and left me wanting to discuss with friends. I only wish this had been a book club pick so I could process it with someone!
