In the midst of Shasta’s self-pity (which seems both valid and dreadful), He is met by Aslan. Aslan breathes on him and tells Shasta to tell him his sorrows and so he does. Shasta believes that the whole time, he has been incredibly unfortunate, but Aslan offers a revelation that contradicts that. Shasta learns that Aslan has been there all along - protecting, guiding, and comforting him.
